Some of the participants in the EDEN cohort have recently received an email and/or letter inviting them to participate in the new ATHLETE follow-up study that will take place in Poitiers. We are pleased to announce the effective start of this new follow-up! The first visits will begin in mid-November.

As a reminder, the ATHLETE follow-up corresponds to a new stage of the European HELIX study, for which 1,300 children, including 205 in Poitiers, were invited to participate in 2014-2015.

The purpose of this new stage of the study is to precisely characterize the full extent of environmental exposures experienced by adolescents, including air and water pollutants, chemical pollutants, and their consequences on their health (growth, respiratory health, neurodevelopment).

Epidemiological studies like the EDEN mother-child cohort, the HELIX follow-up, and this ATHLETE project can provide valuable information about environmental exposures and their impact on the health of children and adolescents. This knowledge could lead to the implementation of preventive measures to ensure a healthy environment for current and future generations.
